The struggle between the Palestinian people and the State of Israel is one of the most challenging issues facing U.S. Christians today. It has brought incalculable loss for the Palestinians and increasing pain and insecurity for the State of Israel. Rev. Munther Isaac of the Christmas Lutheran Church in Bethlehem has named Gaza "the moral compass of our times."

Why has it been so hard for us -- clergy, lay leaders, churchgoers and others -- to talk about Palestine? What are the questions, fears and concerns that often keep us from grappling with this urgent situation of concern to us as Christians and as Americans? Join us in Seattle on March 22 for an opportunity to share your questions and talk with colleagues about these vital issues, including:

  • The rise of antisemitism.
  • Speaking up for Palestinians while still preserving relationships with Jewish colleagues.
  • The meaning of the biblical promises to the Jewish people in today's world.
  • Understanding Christian Zionism in the context of Christianity today.

In this half-day gathering we will:

  • Hear from a range of voices, including Palestinian clergy describing the plight of Palestinian Christians and all Palestinians living under occupation, church leaders working for a just peace, and leaders in Christian peacebuilding.
  • Engage with your colleagues in "table conversations" followed by sharing and discussion with the larger group.
